this is great tip. after using it a few days i think im starting to hit the top of the club face, the ball is really popping way up and im still slicing a little … help

    See the “Golf Pro Lesson Through the ball” video for this; when hooking, you are releasing too soon because you are probably trying to hit the ball instead of releasing the ball to a target; See also “Golf Pro Lesson Timing and Tempo” too;

It is either a ball position issue or you are still moving the centre of the chest and head forward to a position equal to the ball and the club is forced to bottom out under it or to the left; see “golf pro lesson braced Tilt Part 2″, and “golf pro lesson modern driver part 1 and 2″ Shawn

Oh Wow! that’s all I can say for this tip man. I watched it this morning and went to the driving range today adn i used to hit the ball about 65% of the time and only about 100 125 yards but after watching this im hitting 99 % of the time and driving 150-200 yards! wow but then i went to the course today and i try to kill the ball on those par 5’s can you make a video about not killing the ball and having a good swing thanks for all of the help!

Hi Shawn, I really love your video and watching this one make me wonder something. Before your video, I always placed my ball in line with my left feet but I also putted the driver right behind the ball (like 1 inch behind it) but I always send my ball to the right. If I do what you did in this video, do you think this will help me stop sending the ball to the right??? I have no problem with the iron (except below 5-iron that do the same thing as the driver). Can you help me???

thanks Shawn! i’ve been using this tip to rescue me out of a bad few rounds of topping and skying by drives, has really been my driving saving grace!, just wondering about the pro’s with the driver, they always seem to keep the club head right up to the ball prior to hitting the shot, on the backswing do they shift more right? or try to bottom out the club in the middle of the stance on the backswing? just curious, thanks anyway!!! :D :D:D

I tried this today and I was crushing them long high and straight!
I’ve been having some serious issues with my long irons. I read the other day that you shouldn’t hit down on the ball as much with long irons. So I tried this with my 3 iron… holy sh!t Ive never hit my 3 iron like that. Very productive day on the range :)

It feels sooo good to have days like that doesn’t it!!
I thank you for taking the time to write! Shawn

Most just try to keep the swing wide and sweep the ball from the tee to the target; this is just a much easier way to visualize it; see the “Golf Pro Lesson modern driver part 1 and 2″ as well and I also have a very good section on the driver in my dvds as well! Shawn

    Hi Shawn,

I love your videos for the simplicity that you explain each video… I have been putting your lessons to practise and have seen a great improvement in my game. Keep up the great work.

    Hi Shawn,
What about the hands (in rekation to the clubhead) in the driver set-up? Should we have the hands in line with the clubhead or not? (therefore opening or closing the clubface?)

I’m 14 and on my school golf team and when i drive i always seem to hook it a little to the left then it comes back to the right quite bad. So if i tried this do you think it would take that hook away?

  • ak7776 said:

hi shawn, great video. could you elaborate more on the part where you mention briefly about the set-up with irons? you said set-up, the low point is at the centre behind the ball. but during impact, left forward leg moves abit laterally so the low point or divot is in front of the ball. but wouldn’t this happen with the driver too? because the lateral move is result of the “plant” or “power squat”? This would cause a shift of low point too? i’m confused.

Fantastic Comment! All you need to do is experiment a bit until you get the desired flight; also see the “golf pro lesson modern driver” part 1 and 2! Shawn

  • clemshaw said:

I am a bit confused here about your direction results; make sure you also see the “golf Pro lesson Modern driver” part 1 and 2; if you are hooking, also see “golf pro lesson through the ball”; Shawn

  • clemshaw said:

As long as the ball is flying straight, the face of the club in relation to your grip is fine; at address, just let everything hang from the shoulders (your arm-club unit); Thanks for the question!
    Shawn

  • clemshaw said:

As long as your ball flight is straight means the clubface-grip relationship is good; then just let the arm-club unit hang from the shoulders; it will feel like the shaft needs to lean forward a bit; Shawn

Got it! Thanks v much Shawn. Great work as usual! Love it even more when explanations are short and sweet!
